Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a monthly or membership fee?

No. No membership, no subscription, nothing monthly. You pay $69 per visit - that's the only charge from WeightPath MD, and medication is paid separately to your pharmacy.

How do I make an appointment?

Click Book a visit and you'll be taken to our secure EHR. Once you have an account, you can book an audio or video appointment - and depending on your state, a chat-message visit is an option too.

Do you take insurance?

No - WeightPath MD is cash only. No insurance claims, no prior authorizations, no surprise bills. Your $69 visit fee and your medication cost are both known up front. If you have an HSA or FSA, your visit receipt may be eligible for reimbursement - check with your plan.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes - your $69 visit and most prescribed medications are generally HSA/FSA eligible. If your plan asks for documentation, we'll provide a Letter of Medical Necessity on request.

How do payments work?

You pay securely online when you book. Payments are processed through Healthie, our HIPAA-compliant EHR, which uses Stripe for secure payment processing. WeightPath MD never sees or stores your card number.

How do I pay for medication?

You pay the manufacturer pharmacy directly - NovoCare Pharmacy for Wegovy, or LillyDirect for Zepbound and Foundayo. They ship to your door. WeightPath MD never handles, resells, or marks up medication.

How do I know when my prescription is ready?

The pharmacy lets you know directly. After your visit, Dr. Patel sends your prescription to NovoCare Pharmacy, LillyDirect, or Amazon Pharmacy, and they notify you by email, text, or both as soon as it goes through - with next steps for payment and delivery. You never need to check with us, but message us anytime if something looks off.

Are visits in person or virtual?

All visits are virtual - no office visit required. Depending on your state's telehealth rules, your visit may be by video, phone, or secure messaging (asynchronous). When you book, you'll see which visit formats are available based on the state you're in at the time of your visit.

Is my health information private?

Yes. WeightPath MD uses a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) for scheduling, visits, secure messaging, and your medical records. Your information is encrypted and never sold or shared for marketing.

Which medication is right for me?

That depends on your medical history and preferences. Dr. Patel reviews your options during your visit, including pills and weekly injections.

Are these medications FDA-approved?

Yes. Every medication we prescribe - Wegovy Pill and injection, Zepbound, and Foundayo - is an FDA-approved, brand-name medication dispensed directly by the manufacturer's own pharmacy.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

It depends on the medication and dose. In the manufacturers' own clinical trials (medication plus a reduced-calorie diet and increased activity, over about 15-17 months): the Wegovy Pill - about 14% of starting body weight on average [OASIS-4 trial]; the Wegovy injection - about 15% on average, up to 19% at the highest dose [STEP trials]; Zepbound - about 21% on average at the highest dose [SURMOUNT-1 trial]; Foundayo - about 11% on average at the highest dose [ATTAIN-1 trial]. For someone starting around 230 lbs, that's roughly 25 to 48 lbs. Even a smaller loss counts - losing just 5% of your body weight already improves blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Everyone's different - your results depend on your dose, consistency, sleep, and eating habits, and medication works best alongside realistic lifestyle changes. Dr. Patel tracks your progress at every visit and adjusts your plan as needed.

Do I still need to diet and exercise on GLP-1 medication?

Yes - the medication works best as a multiplier, not a replacement. What we recommend to every patient:
• Strength training about 3 days a week, 30 minutes a session. GLP-1 weight loss includes some muscle along with fat; resistance training is how you keep the muscle and lose mostly fat.
• High-protein, lower-carb diet. Protein protects lean mass and keeps you full; cutting refined carbs lets the medication do its job.
Sneakers walking on a sunny road• 8,000-10,000 steps a day. Nothing fancy - daily walking drives the calorie burn and keeps your metabolism from adapting. Patients who follow all three lose more weight, keep more muscle, and maintain it better after reaching goal.

What's the difference between the Wegovy Pill and Foundayo?

Both are once-daily pills in the GLP-1 family. The biggest practical difference is how you take them. The Wegovy Pill must be taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with plain water only (up to 4 ounces), and you must wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medications. Foundayo has no empty-stomach or water restrictions - one tablet once a day, with or without food. Both tablets should be swallowed whole; do not split, crush, or chew them. How do I take Wegovy injection?

Wegovy is a once-weekly injection you take on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. It comes in a prefilled single-dose Pen - no vial, no needle to attach. You inject it just under the skin of your stomach, thigh, or upper arm, rotating spots each week. Every box includes step-by-step instructions. More information: Wegovy.com Pen Guide

How do I take Zepbound injection?

Zepbound is a once-weekly injection you can take any time of day, with or without food. You inject it just under the skin of your abdomen or the front of your thigh (or the back of your upper arm if someone else gives it), rotating spots each week. It comes as a single-dose vial you use with your own needle and syringe, or a prefilled KwikPen that takes pen needles. Every box includes step-by-step instructions.
